Recording

Last week, I gave a book talk at Unnameable Books in Brooklyn. Before the talk, some friends and I played a short set of improvised music that my brother kindly captured on his phone.

It’s just a voice note recording (with a little bit of subsequent mixing)—but I want to share it anyway. Aaron and Zach played so beautifully, and the set itself is the closest I’ve ever come to putting together music that expresses what I want to express.

As a full-time but contingent academic, I only too rarely have opportunities to play this kind of music these days. It means a lot to have a recording that feels like it represents what I want to do and keep doing.

I hope you’ll have a listen.
